Founded in 2003 as a grassroots initiative, Sunrise House began with a vision to provide refuge for at-risk youth in Grande Prairie. Operating out of a small converted duplex, the shelter initially offered 12 beds and basic resources.
Over the years, our mission has expanded through community support, increased awareness, and ongoing program development. Despite financial challenges, we reopened in 2010 stronger than ever, laying the groundwork for the enhanced services we provide today.
In December 2023, Sunrise House opened the doors to its new facility, a state-of-the-art building designed to meet the growing needs of youth in crisis. Funded through generous community support, this expanded space includes:

In 2024 alone, Sunrise House served over 240 youth, helping them overcome challenges like mental health struggles, family breakdowns, and poverty. Our team’s trauma-informed approach ensures that every young person who walks through our doors feels heard, valued, and supported.
